I've been secretly working on building websites in my spare time to showcase a little bit of my design work. Just learned out how to add a flash gallery to my XHTML site. Gesh... what a headache!

The Best Day I Never Knew I Always Wanted

video

The Engagement Story

It happened Saturday, April 4 upon a weekend to beautiful Montauk, my engagement to Jennifer Lyn Seracuse. I had a pretty good feeling she was on to me and my proposal since I wouldn't tell her where we were going so I knew I had to make it special and a complete surprise. Here's how it went down. We arrived on a sunny afternoon and the first thing I did was make a reservation at a beautiful restaurant called Harvest located on Fort Pond.
We spent the afternoon munching on fish sandwiches, drinking beer and swimming in the indoor pool at our hotel called the Montauk Manor... a really cool place by the way. Once we finished playing, we got showered, dressed and ready for the evening. Before we left I told Jenn I really wanted to see a Montauk sunset. Reluctantly, due to high winds, cool temperatures and dress shoes, she agreed.
We got a cab and headed off to the beach! Now, the winds were blowing from every direction making the temperature outside a brisk 40 degrees... this is no place for a woman with 4" heels and long hair. Yup, she was angry. Despite the conditions, we had a unique, yet sublime sunset and the sky was filled with grand pastel blue and magenta clouds. One of my favorite things to do in a location like this is take a picture. Who wouldn't? Jenn and I usually do a hold-out of us together in these kinds of situations so that's just what we did as her hair slapped her face. She begged me to go, "please, I'm freezing" she said loudly. I said, "yes, but one more thing... can I get one more shot of you by yourself?" She says, "hurry!" I step back quickly to get a shot of her in this landscape and instead of taking a snap shot, I turn the dial on my point & shoot to video and the rest is history and i'll let the video take it from here. This was truely a perfect day!

Production Stills

Mostly Polaroid tests from 2008, but I thought I'd let some production shots see the light of day. Plus my assistants deserve as much attention as they can get. Now that I have this cool new outlet called a Blog you can believe there's going to much more to come!

Picture of the Week

I know what you're thinking... for some reason I keep finding these really cool pictures of Elephants! I'm not necessarily bonded to them nor do I hang motivational posters of them on my wall, but I seem to find these great elephant photos everywhere. This must mean I'm on to something big or something. Stay tuned until I get to the bottom of this. In the meantime, enjoy.

Images of Brooklyn & NYC : Actual Shoot

I shot the actual images for my clients website this past Sunday. I showed the location scout for it a few weeks ago and thought I'd share a few of my favorites. I really like photographing this kind of work... it seems to suit me and I feel free to create spontaneously... which is why I got into this line of work in the first place.

Websites

Recently I've been searching for a new website. First of all I have a website and it seems to work well I get lots of compliments on it and rarely get any negative feedback. Sounds good right? Well, I find that people only know what you show them (with some exceptions) and what I think now is that whatever I like you'll like. There I said it and I'm not taking it back either!
With all B.S. aside, I've recently been introduced to a new breed of website and I'm fascinated. It's full screen, it's big and it's beautiful! Luckily there are people out there working hard to keep the photo community growing in newer and better directions for all of us. For some of this I'd like to thank Rob Haggart - a photo editor. There's a link to his blog down on the right over there. Check him out... he's inspiring! He's created this new website template and I am in love... I have to have one. I want to share a few of these with you. Enjoy!

Trees of Central Park

I've decided that Central Park has some of the most interesting trees next to Colorado's Aspens... I do love those Aspen Trees! These few pictures were shot last fall. Again NY you've really outdone yourself!

Quick Video Portfolio

video

I was at a party the other night and I spoke to a woman who does some consulting for a design firm and mentioned to me that a lot of her clients wanted video for their websites and advised me to get familiar with this medium because she believes that this is the future for photographers.
Now I'm not certain she's right, but I will take it under advisement for now and get familiar at least. Who knows it might be fun. After all... I have noticed an awful lot of other photographers doing this so why shouldn't I? Besides, I have done some video in the past on photo shoots to supplement some of the fitness moves I shoot.
Some of the trouble with Video is that I am completely unfamiliar with the software that edits this together. I'm beginning with iMovie. It's simple Mac software that comes free on all Mac computers. I'm starting by making a video out of photo stills until I can get some video footage shot.
Stay tuned...

Was out shooting images for a clients website and scouting locations today and thought I'd share a few pics I shot. It still amazes me after nearly 7 years living here what a beautiful place this city is. I never seem to get tired of it. XO New York

Rykä & Hörzu Magazine

I finally got my hands on the published material I sold as stock just before Christmas.
Thank you Lisa & Carter over at Frank Creative in Portland, OR. who purchased some of my stock images for the Ryka catalog and to Simone over at Barbette Media here in NY for contacting me and getting me a copy of Hörzu magazine. I should also mention that this is my very first cover!

Barack Obama Inauguration - Harlem, NYC 1/20/2009

Today was truly an amazing day. Jenn, Sean, Shea and I went up to Harlem to be a part of the Barack Obama inauguration at the Adam Clayton Powell, JR State Office Building. They had a large screen TV playing NY1 and we all watched history in the making. Here's some pics of this cold, but epic day.

Places

I find that the trouble with shooting digital is that so much photography sits on my hard drive... maybe you can relate. Unfortunately, it doesn't do anyone much good if it never gets seen. I've recently been working on a series of collages of some of the places I've traveled to over the past 7 years to help archive this material somewhat.
From 2002 - 2006 I was a photo assistant to an adventure photographer named Jorg Badura. I was fortunate enough to travel to some unique and beautiful places. I had little time to work seriously on my photography, but I managed to get some scouting pics in as we were checking out locations and a few personal pics as well. See Below.
